The stunning coastline of Tynemouth is yours to discover from the Four Star, English Tourist Council Silver Award winning, Martineau Guest House. Named after the 19th century social reformer, Harriet Martineau, who's home it was during the 1840's, this very charming bed and breakfast is the ideal location from which to experience the Northumbrian World Heritage coastline, Newcastle and the Scottish Borders from. In fact Newcastle is just a twenty-minute Metro ride away, and the beach just a five-minute walk!
Martineau Guest House has four stunningly presented en-suite guest rooms for you to choose from, which are, like the rest of the house, extremely well appointed and exquisitely styled. All of the rooms are very luxurious, spacious and have lots of little touches to make you feel right at home.
They each have their own look, feel and spectacular views of the village, coast line and priory, as well as having complimentary Wi-Fi Internet access, TV with Freeview and built in DVD player, complimentary toiletries, a hairdryer, a selection of hot beverages and biscuits, plus a fridge with bottled water: Just the kind of comforts and luxuries that you would expect to find in a boutique hotel!
Breakfast is phenomenal, and is served in the spacious kitchen overlooking the 'secret garden'. The Big Geordie Breakfast comes highly recommended, and all the breakfast dishes give you a taste of the local area, as all the produce is fresh and locally sourced:
Including specially made Martineau sausages, Craster Kippers, home made fish cakes and scrumptious vegetarian and vegan options. Or, you could try Tipsy Porridge, which has a wee-nip-o-whisky to warm the cockles of your heart.
Of course there is a fine selection of cereals, seasonal fruit, yogurt and juices, plus a further choice of home made potato cakes, smoked salmon with scrambled eggs, smoked haddock with poached eggs, and a variety of omelettes. All the bread is home made, and makes fabulous toast. Naturally there is plenty of freshly made coffee, hot chocolate, and piping hot tea to get your day off to a great start.
